Finals Coming Up At Fruita 8/9 8th and 9th Graders must ready and prepare themselves for upcoming finals

By Michaela Howard

As Winter break and a new semester approach at the Fruita 8/9, so does the time of year for midterm finals. Now marks the time to begin preparing.

Finals will be coming just before Winter break, as when students return, the new semester will already be in place. All classes are going to have final tests for the students to take.

Finals will usually include just about every unit that a class has gone through, which is why studying will be your best friend in preparing for these tests.

Everyone has their own strategies for preparing, so this is no wrong or right way to make sure you are well prepared and ready to work hard.

As there isn’t much time left until finals arrive, now is the perfect time to begin preparation. The best thing to do is to just study, study study. You can’t ever memorize too much, so do what you can in order to make sure you’ve got it all down and are ready to ace these midterm finals.

Studies have shown that students who stress too much about tests like these tend to end up doing worse. So take a deep breath, take your time, and think positive thoughts. These grades are going to be very important in passing your grade, and even eventually will help you in graduating high school and going to college.

Finals for each class may be in all types of formats, as in scantron, computerized, or just regular pencil and paper. So don’t set any specific expectations.

The main thing to focus on in preparing for these finals is studying, having a good work ethic, and just trying.

No one is perfect. But everyone has the ability to try. As long as you work hard, do your best, and remember that you can, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

     Good luck!

Ohh... Pretty Lights ( The Fruita Parade o’ Lights)

Kodi McGuire

It’s that time of year again! Can you guess what it is? No? How about now? No?  Okay, well it’s the parade of lights, the same one that happens every year. It is on December eighth, after the holiday arts and crafts fair at the Fruita Community center. The parade of lights will start at 5:30 PM, but the line up starts at 4:30 PM for those interested in being in the actual parade.

The theme this year is -drum roll please- a country Christmas. The admission is… nothing because your outside on the street watching floats go by with lights and decorations on them. You're basically just standing on the street corner (or the side of the street) watching people go by in colorful floats dancing around to Christmas music.

The parade of lights has been a big hit in the past and is fun to do with the whole family.

The parade of lights in 2016 was themed: Christmas Past: a Twentieth Celebration.

The parade of lights this year- like always- is in downtown Fruita.

In the past years, the parade of lights has occurred, it has been very cold, so make sure you bundle up that night for the highest the temperature is supposed to be is, 40 degrees and the lowest it’s supposed to be is, 21 degrees, and that is degrees Fahrenheit, not Celsius.

It would be a fun experience for you and your family, to see all of the cool floats and pretty lights. It’s a great way to experience Fruita’s community and people, along with the creativity that people show and get to experience a different way of thinking, along with a way that people put a twist too- A Country Christmas.
